The Wheel Route - 24.9 (WEEK 5 RECAP)
2-man operation to recall the happenings of Week 5 which included another disappointing loss by Ole Miss and a wild finish to the Georgia-Alabama matchup that lived up to (and probably exceeded) the hype.
2-man operation to recall the happenings of Week 5 which included another disappointing loss by Ole Miss and a wild finish to the Georgia-Alabama matchup that lived up to (and probably exceeded) the hype.
Week 5 has yet to kick off and we’ve already got new (hypothetical) landing spots for some figures in the coaching world, UNLV loses their starting QB to an NIL dispute, and the board of games looks potentially fun! Games picked = Virginia Tech @ Miami, Oklahoma State @ Kansas State, Louisville @ Notre Dame, Georgia @ Alabama, and Illinois @ Penn State.
Week 4 gave us plenty to dissect including wins by our 3 favorite schools, a Friday night/Saturday morning contest being hailed by some as the game of the year, and mixed performances by top new QB prospects.
Week 4 is nearly upon us with a much more exciting slate of games to dive into, including 4 ranked-on-ranked matchups. Games picked = Illinois @ Nebraska, JMU @ UNC, USC @ Michigan, Utah @ Oklahoma State, and Tennessee @ Oklahoma.
Join us to face the music for mostly-subpar picks, a tough week for teams close to our heart, musings on Colorado’s return to the win column, and Jesse Palmer/Joe Tess’ content masterclass from Gainesville.
The Week 3 board appears to truly be one for the sickos among us, so join us to sift through the trash in search of some joy. Games picked = Arizona @ Kansas State, LSU @ South Carolina, Boston College @ Missouri, Oregon @ Oregon State, and Maryland @ Virginia.
A lot went according to plan for most games in Week 2, but we still were given some exciting finishes and inexcusable losses (looking at you, Notre Dame) to cover including a better overall week of picks for our hosts.
This week we have a nutrient-dense combo episode to review the Week 1 results to the best of our recollection and look forward to a less-glitzy Week 2 board. Games picked = Texas @ Michigan, Iowa State @ Iowa, South Carolina @ Kentucky, Tennessee @ NC State, and Colorado @ Nebraska.
We have returned, against all odds, to provide our thoughts on the college football landscape - things to keep an eye on this year, Week 0 observations, and Week 1 picks. Games picked = Clemson v Georgia, Penn State @ West Virginia, Miami @ Florida, Notre Dame @ Texas A&M, and USC v LSU.
Join us to put the 2023 College Football campaign to bed as we recap Michigan’s convincing win over our sweet Huskies, and press into a new year as each host unveils his golfing/personal/lifestyle goals for 2024.
The boys are back with a belated review of the New Year’s 6 bowls including two thrilling CFP Semifinal games, as well as a preview of Monday night’s title game matchup between Michigan and Washington.
The postseason continues on with some fun games, not much taking place on the coaching carousel, but the elite bowl games are finally on tap. Games picked = Missouri vs Ohio State, Ole Miss vs Penn State, Georgia vs Florida State, Liberty vs Oregon, Alabama vs Michigan, and Texas vs Washington.
Join us for a breeze-shooting session in which we loosely cover some Curt Cignetti happenings, National Signing Day 1.0, what remains of the coaching carousel, and travel adventures.
We’re back with a casual time of discussion, mostly regarding the Army-Navy game, Bob Chesney to JMU, Bronco Mendenhall to New Mexico, and Logan’s current state of affairs as a Florida fan.
Conference championship games are in the books and with that, the College Football Playoff has been set but not without some controversy! We talk playoff selection/matchups, what to think of Florida State’s exclusion, and coaching carousel talk focusing on JMU.
Join us to turn the page from the regular season to the postseason, with more coaching carousel and new transfer portal discussion in the mix. Games picked = Oregon vs Washington, Oklahoma State vs Texas, Georgia vs Alabama, Louisville vs Florida State, and Michigan vs Iowa.
We have stumbled back from a wild holiday/rivalry weekend that saw nearly all favorites walk away victorious (including an Iron Bowl finish for the ages) as well as some hirings to close certain seats on the carousel. Bonus Thanksgiving cuisine discourse!
With few interesting results (Auburn) and not much happening on the coaching carousel, we focus on the teams close to our heart, injuries, the Heisman race, and our mediocre picks from Week 12. Bonus betting and Thanksgiving conversation for those who stick around.
The coaching carousel continues to spin (allegedly, in some cases), College Gameday is headed to Harrisonburg, and despite 4 ranked-on-ranked games the overall board is somewhat underwhelming. Games picked = Utah @ Arizona, Georgia @ Tennessee, Illinois @ Iowa, Kansas State @ Kansas, and Washington @ Oregon State.
In addition to some impressive individual performances across the board this weekend, we also got the unofficially official start of Silly Season as Texas A&M fires Jimbo Fisher and gets the coaching carousel truly fired up.
