The Wheel Route

Mildly Legitimate

The Wheel Route - 24.28 (CFP ROUND 2 PREVIEW)

We have returned from Christmas Break for our final episode of 2024; not much to report from the coaching carousel but we’ve had an above-average Bowl Season so far and the 2nd round of the College Football Playoff is near. Games picked = Penn State v Boise State, Texas v Arizona State, Oregon v Ohio State, and Notre Dame v Georgia.

The Wheel Route - 24.26 (CFP ROUND 1 PREVIEW)

After a brief rest, we’ve returned to catch up on the developments on the coaching carousel, discuss some early bowl games and dive into the first round matchups of the College Football Playoff. Games picked = Indiana @ Notre Dame, SMU @ Penn State, Clemson @ Texas, and Tennessee @ Ohio State.

The Wheel Route - 24.24 (CONFERENCE CHAMP PREVIEW)

The weekend of champions has arrived, with 9 conference championships to be awarded and 5 of which we will pick against the spread, but not before a dive into the current state of the coaching carousel. Games picked = UNLV @ Boise State, Iowa State vs Arizona State, Georgia vs Texas, Clemson vs SMU, and Penn State vs Oregon.

The Wheel Route - 24.22 (WEEK 13 PREVIEW)

The penultimate week of the 2024 regular season is upon us, with a mix of intriguing matchups and also some out-of-conference stinkers peppered across the board; the coaching carousel is also starting to spin a bit faster! Games picked = Indiana @ Ohio State, Ole Miss @ Florida, BYU @ Arizona State, Colorado @ Kansas, and Army @ Notre Dame.

The Wheel Route - 24.19 (WEEK 11 PREVIEW)

While it’s not the strongest schedule of the year, Week 11 is also not pounding us with bad out-of-conference matchups and there are still some decent contests to take in; bonus rememberance of some of our favorite ACC Network commercials. Games picked = Georgia @ Ole Miss, Clemson @ Virginia Tech, Colorado @ Texas Tech, Alabama @ LSU, and BYU @ Utah.

The Wheel Route - 24.18 (WEEK 10 RECAP)

We’re back to get grumpy about the recent time change and collect our thoughts on a somewhat disappointing (though still entertaining!) collection of results from Week 10; the coaching carousel remains quiet and it seems that several previously-endangered individuals are working their way towards survival.

The Wheel Route - 24.16 (WEEK 9 RECAP)

Join us as we discuss the happenings of Week 9, which saw evidence of some teams continuing to improve from week to week while others appear to be plateauing or even regressing - and perhaps some more examples of additional parity across the sport. Bonus home improvement/appliance discussion!

The Wheel Route - 24.15 (WEEK 9 PREVIEW)

No updates on the coaching carousel but Week 9 features a fairly enticing slate of games including 5 ranked-on-ranked matchups which we of course have guessed against the spread for entertainment purposes only. Games picked = Notre Dame @ Navy, Illinois @ Oregon, Missouri @ Alabama, Texas @ Vanderbilt, and LSU @ Texas A&M.

The Wheel Route - 24.14 (WEEK 8 RECAP)

Week 8 gave us plenty to discuss but maybe not too much to read too deeply into; we’re starting to see some big-name programs fade from playoff discussion while others are putting impressive performances on film. Bonus Tony Bennett retirement musings!

The Wheel Route - 24.13 (WEEK 8 PREVIEW)

We head into Week 8 with an enticing schedule and a shocking amount of silence on the Coaching Carousel front, though Logan has some updated thoughts on the Florida Big Board. Games picked = Miami @ Louisville, Nebraska @ Indiana, Alabama @ Tennessee, Michigan @ Illinois, and Georgia @ Texas.

The Wheel Route - 24.12 (WEEK 7 RECAP)

We return from a weather-induced absence to revisit a very entertaining slate of games in Week 7 that included numerous overtime finishes and questionable clock management decisions. Bonus discourse regarding injury replays on TV and win probability charts!

The Wheel Route - 24.11 (WEEK 6 RECAP)

Folks, this was a Blood Week - 7 ranked teams lost this past weekend, including 5 of the top-11 (and a very close call for a 6th school late Saturday night on the West Coast). Logan also enters the first copy of his Florida Head Coach Big Board into the record!

The Wheel Route - 24.10 (WEEK 6 PREVIEW)

Back at full strength to look at what does not appear to be a stellar schedule but still has some interesting options for the true sickos out there. Games picked = Syracuse @ UNLV, Missouri @ Texas A&M, Rutgers @ Nebraska, Clemson @ Florida State, and Michigan @ Washington.
